Hygienic pallets, what’s that about?

Hygienic pallets, what’s that about?

There are many kinds of pallets. Especially when it comes to plastic pallets, a very wide range is available. They are suitable for the transport and storage of very diverse products. Therefore, it is important that when choosing a pallet, you take into account what kind of load it will carry. It is also important to consider the mode of transport and storage. Hygienic pallets are ideal for products that need to be protected from pests, bacteria, and fungi. But how does this work?

HACCP industries

Companies that handle foods must do so in a safe and hygienic way. They need to adhere to the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) rules, also known as food hygiene rules. It is their responsibility to prevent their products from making consumers sick. This responsibility also applies to the transport and storage of products. The HACCP rules include products that need to be cooled, but also products that are perishable if the hygiene does not meet the correct standard.

Storage and transport

During transport and storage, raw materials, (semi-)manufactured products, and other products must be handled correctly. It goes without saying that the packaging must provide protection. But that is not all – the mode of transport is also important. This must be done in a way that minimises the risks.

Hygienic pallet

Q-Pall’s hygienic pallet, also known as the H1 pallet, is a pallet that is specially made for industries that need to comply with the HACCP rules. It is important that the pallet is made in such a way that pests, bacteria, and fungi have no chance to nest and grow, because this is precisely what poses a danger to food safety. Hygienic pallets are made of plastic. Plastic is far more hygienic than wood – wood is a porous material that can be a good nesting base for pests and insects. Wood can also splinter, which poses a danger to the user and the substances that are being transported. Plastic is not porous and does not splinter. The finish of the hygienic pallet ensures that there are no spaces or seams where dirt can accumulate. They are completely smooth, which reduces the risk of unwanted guests.

When to use a hygienic pallet

This pallet is particularly suitable for the food industry. This concerns companies engaged in preparing, treating, processing, packaging, transporting, and distributing food and/or foodstuffs. Q-pall’s range includes various hygienic pallets. You can choose between different sizes and different load capacities.
